The Algarve is known for the most sunny days in Europe with mild winters and comfortable summer
temperatures. Our idyllic spot is surrounded by Europe’s most spectacular beaches. Within
walking distance are Praia da Carvalho and the famed Praia da Marinha.
The approximately 3000 square foot house is nestled in a mature garden facing the ocean. It
features 4 bedrooms,
2 1/2 newly renovated bathrooms, and another full bath located by the pool area.
Our housekeeper, Fernanda, is at the home for two hours each weekday. We prefer not to have more
than 6 guests.
Bordering the house is the the stunning “Seven Hanging Valleys Trail”, a 7.5 mile path along the
coastline, where you can take walks year round and witness a rare spectacle of nature:
breathtaking sunsets, amazing geology, migrating birds and sometimes dolphins at sea.
The Algarve was conquered by the Moors in 716 AD. “Al-Gharb” means “the West” as this region
marked the most Western part of the Islamic Empire. Even today some of the Islamic influence is
obvious in the Portuguese language, the architecture of the white washed villages and its prized
azulejo (ceramic tile) tradition.
For nearly 40 years, our family oasis has been a place to unwind, read, write and observe the
vivid night sky. Unpolluted fragrant air, magical light and the natural sounds of birds, ocean
and wind restore body and mind.
